I thought this might be the answer to helping me keep my sugar cookie dough thick and uniform. Notsomuch. I measured my rolling pin and at 2.5 inches, I thought these would fit. I think you have to have at least 3 inch or greater diameter rolling pin for these to work. They appear to be well made, just not as universal as I had hoped. I will have to continue my quest.

These rings make rolling dough to an even thickness a no brainer. It is important to roll pie, pastry, and cookie dough evenly to allow even baking. You just choose the desired thickness, put the corresponding ring on your rolling pin, and it happens. I bought these to help a group of developmentally disabled people roll dough evenly to make dog cookies for their dog treat business. It worked perfectly, making their job a breeze!

I read the reviews here on Amazon but purchased them at a local retail store. These bands look like they are different circumfrences because the thicker ones are less elastic than the thinner ones. I have a rolling pin with a 2" diameter and one with a 2 3/8" diameter. They accomodated both sizes but it was VERY tight on the larger one so if you have one that is bigger than mine, it may not fit.I would also recommend purchasing a LONG rolling pin (my rolling pin is 12" long and my Silpat is the same width) and leaving the bands at the outer edges. This will enable you to roll out a larger surface area for cut out cookies. I would highly recommend rolling the chilled dough directly on a piece of parchment paper or Silpat. Cut out your cookies and then remove the unused scraps and place back in the bowl. While the cookies are baking, place the dough back in the refrigerator. This helps keep the cut out cookies retain their shapes rather than transferring them to another medium (cookie sheet). I made a huge batch of Linzer sandwich cookies and I was so happy that I did not have any dark edges or some cookies that were thicker/thinner than others. Feel free to see my photos.These bands are not perfect but it is better than nothing. The price is very reasonable and they are very durable. I know one reviewer mentioned these rings cracked but I find that highly unlikely since these are made of silicon.
