The mat itself feels heavy enough (for cotton that is) and I have no complaints about that. The rolling pin cover is also helpful. It makes a world of a difference when you roll the dough out, nothing sticks to the pin.Now the cons. At first, mostly because of the measurement circles, I was very happy with the product. The circles made it so much easier when rolling out 6 to 8 inch doughs (I use 4.5 and 8 inch tart and pie pans). However, later on the mat started soaking up butter grease from the dough (this is after many uses though) and now the mat is left with stains. The manual says to gently wipe the mat for care. I suppose this is ok, but I don't feel that this is very hygienic.And as suspected, the mat does move around. However, this is not really a problem for me given my tiny counter space. I would use the mat until it is covered entirely with dough stains and until I upgrade to a wooden pastry board. But I think this will do for now.

My mother recently purchased this for me as I do most of the baking these days. I was worried it'd be annoying and just shift around on the countertop, but it actually stayed in place, reduced the flour I needed and boy was cleanup a breeze. I just shook out the excess flour and rolled it up. The rolling pin cover is very nice too. It fit my very long french rolling pin with just a couple inches on either end bare, which was just perfect by me. I know it'd also fit my fatter, shorter marble pin very well also, since it's a knit fabric.I consider rolling pastry and dough the most unpleasant part of the project due to clean up and mess and this has reduced that nuisance considerably!

This is a great pastry cloth. Nice and heavy, markings are helpful. I keep it folded in a plastic freezer bag in the freezer. Rollouts on my granite countertop keeps the pastry nice and cool. The cloth doesn't need a whole lot of additional flour, which keeps the crusts tender. Hubby thinks I'm the best pie-maker ever. Ha.
