I decided on this rolling pin (16 inch) instead of a silicone pin. I did not want the silicone since many reviewers complained of it attracting dust and other small particles.If you are not familiar with Polyethylene and are thinking this is a hollow plastic pin you will be surprised the minute you take it out of the box. It is hefty but not as heavy as marble or granite. I would not recommend using it to crush ice, nuts , etc. As with any rolling pin this would leave dings and scratches that could lead to sticking. It can be chilled if desired, but I have not found it necessary. Nothing sticks to this pin.This pin is the perfect diameter for easy handling and just wipes clean. It is easy on the wrists an hands. This alone makes it worth the price. I will never go back to a traditional handled rolling pin. It is the right length for pie crusts. The weight is hefty enough for easy rolling, but not so heavy that it over works the dough. It requires very little flour so your pastries will not turn out tough.Paired with the Tupperware Simply Perfect Pastry Sheet Red it creates terrific pastry easily.For storage I just roll the pin inside the Tupperware Simply Perfect Pastry Sheet Red and place in the drawer underneath my fridge.
